Bilt Hamber Auto-Clay

Bilt Hamber Auto-Clay is a high-performance automotive clay bar designed to remove embedded contamination from vehicle paintwork, leaving the surface exceptionally smooth and ready for the next stage of your detailing process. It is particularly effective at lifting iron particles, brake dust debris and bonded road contamination that normal washing cannot remove.
Auto-Clay is available in Regular, Medium and Soft grades, allowing you to choose the appropriate level of firmness for the condition of the vehicle. Regular is the firmest grade and is best suited to heavily contaminated vehicles; Medium is intended for moderately contaminated paintwork; while Soft is ideal for lightly contaminated or well-maintained paintwork. Temperature also affects the firmness of clay, with warmer conditions making it softer and colder conditions making it firmer.
Unlike some clay bars, Auto-Clay contains no surfactants, detergents, soaps or other soluble materials. It can be used with plain water as a lubricant, making the decontamination process simple and economical. Bilt-Hamber also recommends using Korrosol before claying to remove embedded metallic particles first, helping the clay concentrate on the remaining contamination and extending its useful life.
How to use
Thoroughly wash the vehicle first to remove loose dirt. Work in a cool area away from direct sunlight and keep the paintwork thoroughly wet throughout the process.
Divide the clay bar into smaller pieces and work with one piece at a time. Flatten the clay into a small disc and gently move it backwards and forwards over a small area using very light pressure. Initially, you may hear and feel the clay removing contamination; this will quickly reduce as the surface becomes clean and smooth.
Check the surface with your fingertips as you work. Once the paint feels completely smooth, wipe away any remaining clay residue with a clean microfibre cloth.
As the clay becomes contaminated, fold and reshape it to expose a clean working surface. Never use the clay if it has been dropped on the ground, as it may pick up abrasive particles that could damage the paintwork. A bar can typically be used for approximately four to five cleans on an average-sized vehicle when properly maintained.
Once decontamination is complete, Bilt-Hamber recommends protecting the freshly cleaned paintwork with a suitable wax or polish.
